Datuk Seri Dr. Michael Yam is the Chairman of Metropolitan Lake Development Sdn Bhd. He had an illustrious career of more than 35 years in the construction, development and corporate sectors in leadership positions in blue chip companies such as Landmarks Berhad, Peremba and the NHS Works Department in the UK and helming Country Heights and Sunrise Berhad as their CEO/MD. His property and investment experience covers a wide range of the real estate sectors including commercial, residential, retail, hotel, golf resort, international schools and integrated mixed developments not only in Malaysia but also in the UK, South Africa and Australia prior to his early retirement in 2008 to focus on his advisory role and personal investment portfolio.

He is currently the Chairman of InvestKL Corporation, a Government Investment Promotion Agency under MITI and also Chairman of Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd, Sama Sama Airport Hotel, Mercure Glenmarie Hotel and Triterra Sdn Bhd. He is the Senior Independent Director of Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad and Paramount Corporation Berhad and chairs some of the Board Committees of these Boards. Until recently he had served as an independent non-executive director of several other large corporate entities as Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad, Sunway Berhad, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad and Standard Chartered Saadiq Berhad. He was also at one time an appointed member of the Construction Industry Development Board and the Advisory Board of the City of Kuala Lumpur.

Datuk Seri Dr. Michael Yam is the Most Recent Past President and Patron of REHDA and was recently elected the Senior Vice President of the 187-year-old Chartered Institute of Building with 46,000 members globally. He is a guest lecturer of the Master’s degree course at UTAR, an Adjunct Professor of UTM. He was voted Malaysia’s CEO of the Year in 2002 and honoured with many honorary awards and title in recognition of his contribution to the community and nation building. He was conferred in early 2021 both the Honorary Doctorate of the University of Heriot-Watt and appointed the Chancellor of the University of Wollongong Malaysia KDU.

DATUK SERI UTAMA RAJA NONG CHIK BIN DATO’ RAJA ZAINAL ABIDIN

Datuk Seri Utama Raja Nong Chik graduated from the United Kingdom with a degree in economics and is a qualified accountant by profession. He is a passionate entrepreneur at heart and is well-known as a successful businessman with a patriotic dedication to serve and make a difference in Malaysia.

He began his early career in service to several governmental agencies before joining the private sector.

As the Executive Director of O.Y.L Industries Bhd, he was instrumental in successfully listing the company into the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in the 1980s. He was also responsible for the materialization of the very first Malaysian brand of air-conditioners and refrigerators, ACSON, through a joint-venture with O.Y.L Industries Bhd (now Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd).

In 1991, he founded and established RASMA Corporation Sdn Bhd, which he continues to actively lead and manage. Today, RASMA Group of Companies is a successful business conglomerate specializing in mechanical, engineering, elevator, and rail development and services for various and specialized infrastructure projects for government and private sectors. RASMA has since expanded to venture into security printing technology and solutions.

In April 2009, Datuk Seri Utama Raja Nong Chik was appointed and sworn in as a Senator in the Dewan Negara and served the country as a Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing for four years.

He is presently the Chairman of Lion Industries Corporation Berhad.

Datuk Seri Utama Raja Nong Chik has now embarked on a foray into property development under Metropolitan Lake Development Sdn Bhd with Keponggi Square as its maiden project.

DATIN SERI UTAMA NAFESAH RAJA NONG CHIK ABIDIN

Datin Seri Utama Nafesah is a chartered accountant by profession and a fellow member of the Certified Chartered Accountants, UK. She has held various senior positions in the finance and banking field.

After a successful decade in the finance industry, Datin Seri Utama Nafesah made the decision to retire and focus on raising her two children. Not a person to stay still, she had then embarked on various social and charitable projects which continues to this present day.

Driven by passion and her acute financial acumen, Datin Seri Utama Nafesah has always kept a foot in the business world. She has gained vast experience through her many projects in commerce, e-commerce and manufacturing, including a thriving security printing company.

She is the director of RASMA Corporation Sdn Bhd – a 30-year-old successful company with sub-companies specializing in mechanical and engineering services, elevator services and railway services for infrastructure projects.

DATUK MOHD IDRIS BIN MOHD ISA

Datuk Mohd Idris Bin Mohd Isa has more than 25 years of experience in Banking and Finance Industry beginning with Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) and moved on to become the Group Chief Internal Auditor of MBF Group, Chief Executive Officer of Credit Guarantee Corporation, Executive Director of Arab Malaysian Merchant Bank and lastly and independent Non-Executive Director of Bank Rakyat.

Datuk Mohd Idris also has experience in the construction industry, oil and gas sector and integrated logistics working alongside with multinational companies while he was the Group Managing Director of Shapadu Group.

He was actively involved in Socio-Economic activities while serving as a Director of Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YPEIM), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) and Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan.

RAJA HAMZAH ABIDIN

Director

Raja Hamzah is Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of RHL Ventures. RHL Ventures is a Southeast Asian-based private investment firm that focuses on growth capital investments in the Southeast Asia and US region. Hamzah brings his vast experience in various investment roles to advise companies and startups in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Prior to founding RHL Ventures, Raja Hamzah was a Director in Rasma Corporation, a boutique mechanical and electrical engineering services firm based in Malaysia, focusing on infrastructure projects including railroads, stadiums and hospitals.

Prior to Rasma, Raja Hamzah was a Principal Investment Analyst with Guoco Management Company, a multi-billion US-dollar fund based out of Hong Kong. He used a fundamental, bottom up approach to investing, focusing on listed equities, IPO and pre-IPO investment opportunities across Asia and the U.S. He was also a Senior Analyst in the institutional coverage team of Goldman Sachs Asset Management based out of Singapore. GSAM has more than USD1 trillion dollars of assets under management there, he worked extensively with various institutional funds across Southeast Asia, recommending investments across private equity, hedge fund and other asset classes for clients which include Temasek, GIC, Bank Indonesia, the Employees Provident Fund of Malaysia and Khazanah Nasional.

Raja Hamzah graduated from the University of Warwick, UK with a first-class honours degree in Accounting and Finance. He was awarded as one of the ‘Top 50 people who are redefining the way we live’ by the Singapore Straits Times in 2018, ‘Top 40 under 40’ by Prestige Magazine in 2017, and was shortlisted as a Young Fellow of the World Islamic Economic Forum in 2019. Hamzah is currently an Exco member of the Malaysian Manufacturer’s Association, focusing on mentoring young companies. Hamzah is also on the Board of Advisors of Indonesia-based Alami, a P2P financing company focused on Shariah compliant loans and economic empowerment for small and medium sized enterprises in Indonesia.

Hamzah has a strong passion for sports and youth – he is the treasurer of the Malaysian Gymnastics Federation, and on the Board of Trustees of Impact Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Youth and Sports focused on youth empowerment.

JAMES YAM JIA XING

Having been immersed in the property development scene since young, James looks to bring a fresh take to MLD with operating principles that emphasises on fostering relationships, customer focused products and where mutual trust & respect is the bedrock of the company.

With his experience handling projects in the last 8 years with a combined GDV of more than RM1 billion, James has been involved in strategic & operational leadership of the company, business development, project feasibility studies, product conceptualisation and sales & marketing strategy. Of which he gives a lot of credit for his experience to the stewards, mentors and partners that he has journeyed with.

A communicative and confident individual who believes that people are the most important asset of the company and that sustainability is more than a green agenda but something that plays a role in all facets of the company.
